EPA estimated that each year, U.S. food loss and waste embodies 170 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent GHG emissions (excluding landfill emissions) – equal to the annual CO2 emissions of 42 coal-fired power plants.

 

Communicate with and educate your vendors and suppliers on how you can work with your supply chain to have more control of materials and waste being brought into your spaces. This way you can ensure materials coming in can be recycled, reused, or composted.
